Yesterday, thanks to ^
Hanratty-Stock's post on Facebook I found out that
Avon admits to testing some of their cosmetics on animals.
I'm appalled at this news (it's from March, but it's news for me).
How could they perpertrate this lie for over 20 years? For many consumers, myself included, their animal-friendly image was one of their strongest marketing points. From now on, every time I see one of their products, the image of a tortured shaved guinea pig smelling like hand cream is sure to pop into my head. How they think it's ok to drop the blame on gouvernments outside Europe is beyond my comprehension. It's still their company, their products and they have to stand by their principles.
I'm slowly getting used to local businesses screwing people over around here, but I'd never thought a big trusted company like Avon can do that too.
I encourage you to share with me names of cosmetics brands who actually care about animals and don't test their products on them.
Peace
